A Message from the Principals

Good Evening DYI Families,

A huge shout-out to our School Council for making Music Bingo night a fun event.  As we like to say, you can’t have community if you don’t know each other.  It was great to see so many people at our school having a fun time.  We will hold another fun event in 3-4 weeks so be on the lookout for our Food Around the World Event.

For the upcoming week, we will welcome everyone back to DYI.  We are holding Parent-Teacher conferences on both Tuesday and Thursday, so this is your chance to meet your child’s teacher(s) and learn about your child’s academic progress.  When you come to the school, we will have some student ambassadors to greet you and bring you to your child's teachers.  These ambassadors are excellent at getting you to where you need to be.  Just know they are not trained or expected to provide daycare, they will just get you to the correct classroom.

Lastly, it’s a HUGE fundraising week for DYIMS.  Please head to mybooster.com and register your child and their share our fundraiser across social media  Eevn if you do not donate, your child has the chance to win a one day pass to Great Wolf Lodge for just registering at mybooster.com.  We just need 35% of the students to be registered.  Plus, getting registered gets us one step closer to inflatable race with Mr Blake dressed up as a chicken!.

Sincerely,

Mr. Blake, Dr. Greeson, Mrs. Cleary, & Dr. Spano

💛 Pajammin' for Kids with Cancer: Honoring Dr. Greeson's Legacy 💛

Thanks to the dedication and passion of Dr. Greeson, Pajammin' for Kids with Cancer has become a meaningful tradition here at DYI. Over the years, Dr. Greeson has championed this important fundraiser, bringing our school community together to raise awareness and support pediatric cancer research.
We are thrilled to share that this year was our most successful yet, raising nearly $3,000! This incredible accomplishment is a testament to the generosity of our Dolphin families, students, and staff, as well as Dr. Greeson's unwavering commitment to making a difference.
As Dr. Greeson prepares to retire at the end of October, we want to take a moment to recognize and celebrate the lasting impact she has made on our school community. Her compassion, dedication, and commitment to helping others have left a lasting mark on DYI. While she will certainly be missed, we are proud to continue the Pajammin' for Kids with Cancer tradition for years to come in her honor.
Dr. Greeson, thank you for the difference you have made in the lives of our students, families, and staff. We wish you all the happiness and relaxation that retirement brings! You will always be part of our Dolphin family, and you will always be welcomed back with open arms!

DYI Celebrates Unity Day! 🧡

On Wednesday, October 14th, DYI students and staff came together wearing orange in recognition of Unity Day and National Bullying Prevention Month! Unity Day is a nationwide movement that promotes kindness, acceptance, and inclusion while sending a powerful message that bullying is never acceptable and everyone deserves to feel safe, valued, and respected.
Throughout the month of October, our DYI Morning Show has highlighted the important difference between being a bystander and an upstander. Students have been learning how to recognize bullying, speak up when something isn't right, support peers who may be struggling, and seek help from a trusted adult.
At DYI, we are reminding our Dolphins that even the smallest acts of kindness can make a big difference. Together, we can create a school community where everyone feels they belong. That's the Dolphin Way! 🐬🧡

🎶 Music Bingo Brings Our DYI Community Together! 🎶

On Thursday, October 15th, DYI hosted our first community event of the school year, Music Bingo! It was a fun-filled evening of music, laughter, prizes, and most importantly, bringing our Dolphin families together!
A huge thank you to our PTO, School Council, teachers, and staff for helping make this event such a success! A special thank you to the 99 Restaurant for generously donating popcorn and to all of our wonderful community sponsors who donated raffle prizes. Your generosity and support helped make the evening extra special!
We love seeing our DYI community come together and look forward to creating more opportunities for our families to connect and make memories!
Stay tuned for our next community event coming in early December! 🐬💚

📚 Character Café in Ms. Whitten’s Classroom!

A few weeks ago, students in Ms. Whitten’s classroom enjoyed a creative and engaging “Character Café” during Dolphin Time to celebrate the completion of HMH Module 1! Throughout the module, students explored the essential question, “How do experiences shape our identity?”
During their café experience, students revisited their MyBooks and completed special “menus” reflecting on the characters they had read about and how their experiences helped shape who they became. This fun activity encouraged students to think critically, make connections, and deepen their understanding of character development and identity.
What a wonderful way to bring reading, reflection, and creativity together!
