Good Day DYI families,
Happy Summer! It's well past that time of year where back to school signs are up in all of the stores. For families, teacher assignments will be live in PowerSchool as of 4:00 on Wednesday, August 26. For Grade 4 families and new to DYIMS families, this will be very helpful before coming to the Ice Cream Social for just Grade 4 families and families new to DY..
When families log into PowerSchool, you should see your childβs schedule. Related Arts and Instruments are not loaded in yet, When that is complete, we will let families know that they can access this information in PowerSchool. Also, if you are having trouble accessing PowerSchool, we do have directions linked here and you can contact the school for help.
A reminder for families regarding buses. Bus routes and stops have not been posted yet. If you did not request a bus stop for your child in the spring, you can add a request through PowerSchool. It takes time to add the stops so if you need a bus for your child and did not fill out the form, please do so as soon as possible. We want everyone to have a great first day and be at school!
Lastly, as we get closer to the beginning of school, we will send out more βfirst dayβ information to families so everyone is prepped and ready for the first day of school. We are excited to meet our new students at the Ice Cream Social. Keep enjoying summer!
Sincerely,
Mr. Blake, Dr. Greeson, Mrs. Cleary, & Dr. Spano

As we get ready to welcome our Dolphins back to DYI, we want to make sure families have the information they need for a smooth start to the school year! Families can visit the DYI websiteβs Families & Students section for important information about school hours, arrival and dismissal procedures, transportation, lunch menus, school calendars, after-school activities, and other family resources. Please take some time before the first day to review transportation and drop-off/pick-up procedures, check your childβs school supply needs, and make sure all required forms and device information are up to date. Families should also review our attendance expectations and plan for a consistent arrival routine each day. Our website will continue to be your go-to resource throughout the school year for important updates, calendars, resources, and links. We encourage families to bookmark the site and check ParentSquare regularly for school communications and reminders. We can't wait to welcome our students back to DYI and begin another great year together! π¬

Dear DYI Families, Your child has been issued a District-owned Chromebook as part of the DYRSD initiative to enhance the educational experience and prepare students to use technology in the 21st century. It is essential that all procedures and guidelines be followed to ensure the safe, efficient, and ethical operation of this device. Some teachers may allow District-issued devices to go home to extend learning. Therefore, we ask that you agree to the following: As outlined each year in the DY Device Loan Agreement and Student Handbook, families are required to pay a non-refundable Chromebook User Fee. This fee helps support the management, maintenance, and continued availability of District-issued devices for our students. Please submit payment using one of the following options: By Check: Make checks payable to DYRSD and return them to the DYI main office. Online Payment: You can also access UniPay through the DY Website: Quick Links β Online Payments β Technology Fees β DYI - Chromebook User Fee Chromebook User Fee: $40.00 Chromebook User Fee (Free/Reduced Lunch only): $20.00 Please note that the fee is non-refundable. Failure to pay the Chromebook User Fee may result in the fee being carried forward and additional fees accruing in subsequent school years. Thank you for your cooperation and for helping us ensure that our students have access to safe, reliable technology to support their learning throughout the school year. Kindly, DYIS Technology and Administration

Every incoming Grade 4 student has received a copy of I Survived Hurricane Katrina, 2005 by Lauren Tarshis to enjoy over the summer. This engaging historical fiction graphic novel follows Barry, a young boy who experiences the devastating events of Hurricane Katrina in New Orleans. As Barry becomes separated from his family, he must rely on courage, resilience, and determination to survive alongside his beloved dog. The story provides students with an exciting adventure while introducing them to an important moment in history. We can't wait to hear about the books our students discover when we welcome everyone back in the fall. Happy reading! |
