A Message from the Principals

Good afternoon DYI families,

We have a short and busy week. Hopefully you will have an opportunity on this rainy day to check our school newsletter. Events families will want an update or reminder about are:

School Pictures. Please look below or click this link. Once at the link, place in the code: A5325F We will receive paper order forms to send home on Tuesday for pictures on Wednesday. Please see some information below and you can click this link to check out order options today:

Student Survey. Later this week students will be taking a screener. MySAEBRS is a screening tool that helps school staff identify if a student is at risk socially, academically, or emotionally. The survey is completely online and takes 30 minutes or less for students to complete. The information from the survey is reviewed by the student’s classroom teacher, school administrators and the Student Support Team. They look for patterns that can help meet each child’s needs in school. Please click here to check out more information and to sign an opt out form if you wish.

5th Grade Seashore Meeting. On Wednesday at 5:15 in our school auditorium, we will have a meeting with interpreters to learn about the overnight seashore trip this year. All 5th grade families are invited to attend.

October PTO Meeting. On Wednesday at 6:00, we will hold our October PTO meeting in the school library. We hope you are able to make it.

Parent-Teacher Conferences. Conferences are the week of October 20. If you have not yet made an appointment with your child’s teacher, they would love to meet with you.

Instrument Drive.  A huge shout out to the Yarmouth Rotary Club. The Yarmouth Rotary Club has partnered with the DY Music Department to implement an instrument collection and repair drive. So if you are tired of a closet full of guitars and trumpets, make some space by donating to the Yarmouth Rotary Club and DY School District's Instrument Collection and Repair Drive! DYI is a drop off location. The only thing to remember is please no pianos.

Lastly, we thank everyone for making it our first family fun night of the year. Please save the date for the next event on Wednesday, November 19. More details soon. We look forward to another chance for our families to get to know one another so we are a stronger school community.

Sincerely,

Mr. Blake, Dr. Greeson, and Mrs. Cleary

October is Anti-Bullying Month

October is Anti-Bullying Awareness Month. During this month, we are focusing our Morning Show messages to remind students to stand up to bullying, how to recognize bullying behavior, as well as reminding students that don't bully are following the Dolphin Way...especially "Offering Respect" and "Demonstrating Kindness." On Wednesday, October 8th, we encouraged students and staff to wear orange in awareness of Anti-Bullying (see pics below). Here are some resources for families to look at about anti-bullying:

Coming up in Future Newsletters

As the school year continues, we will be highlighting staff and students in a variety of ways. Soon, staff will be sharing what great learning activities are happening in their classrooms. We will continue to provide families with information about upcoming events as well as sharing pictures and blurbs about events that occurred at the school! We want families to be informed and to see the joy and excitement that is happening in our school!
