Good Evening DYI families,

 We hope you are enjoying this hot and humid summer.  At school we are busy preparing for the new school year while soaking up some sunshine and spending time with family and friends. 

A quick reminder — don’t forget about our summer reading book. If you’ve already finished, great! If not, there’s still plenty of time to get started.

In the next week or so, we’ll be sharing details about when and how you’ll find out who your child’s teacher will be for the upcoming year. Once assignments are posted, teachers will connect with you through ParentSquare to share classroom supply information.

If you are an incoming 4th grader and family or are new to the DYI community, please mark your calendar for our Ice Cream Social on Wednesday, August 20 at 5:30 p.m. This event is especially for our new students, most of whom will be entering Grade 4.

We are excited to welcome new staff to our school for the upcoming school year:

We have two additional staff members that are in the process of being hired!

More information about all of the new staff will be provided after school starts.

The DYIMS PTO meets monthly on Wednesday. The PTO helps to support the students at both the Intermediate and the Middle School with field trips, assemblies, and other enrichment opportunities. Please consider joining the PTO this school year!

The Yarmouth Health Department is excited to launch a new monthly “Awareness” series, beginning this September with a focus on Childhood Obesity Awareness. We have several fun and educational events planned to engage families and promote healthy habits:

Encourage kids to show what healthy living means to them through art!

 2. Healthy Snack Bag Giveaway – Monday, September 23

Location:

 Town Hall

In collaboration with the 

Cape Cod Community Pantry, we’ll be giving away free healthy snack bags to families. Educational handouts promoting healthier food choices will also be available.

Winners will be announced at the October 6th Board of Health meeting. We’d love for families to attend so we can present prizes in person and capture a photo for online sharing!

This summer, DYI was host to the Extended School Year. We also watched as the new fields were being fixed! What a lot of work that is.

The DYI admin spent many hours interviewing candidates for a few open positions, which is always exciting. We also explored our new communication tool: ParentSquare.

We are also excited that we will be piloting a new Social-Emotional curriculum: Wayfinder, a new STEM curriculum, Project Lead the Way, and some of our teachers will be piloting a new literacy program, HMH Into Reading.
